Chicanos/Latinos
for Community Medicine was founded approximately 35 years ago by a group of
premed students at UCLA who shared a belief in the importance of getting
involved in reforming our health care system to better meet the needs of the
underserved. Today, advocacy for the needs of the community continues to be
at the core of all CCM activities, in the hope that this value will shape
studentsÕ professional lives as health care practitioners. Each CCM member
also has countless opportunities to develop a deeper understanding of culture
and witness how much culture matters in matters of health. Our organization,
is heavily focused on activities that promote a commitment to community, such
as community service projects, but it is also focused on the need to help
students succeed academically. Members with similar career goals work
collectively to stay in school, study, and succeed. |

We are a group of mainly international students who are
committed to being disciples of Jesus Christ and serving him among the
nations of the world. "On Friday nights we meet near campus for
fellowship, Bible study and sharing. Throughout the year, we also go hiking
and camping, as well attending various conferences and seminars." |
